Achilles Motorsports Valve Spring Kits for the E36 M50/S52 family of engines are engineered and manufactured to be used specifically on street tuned or high performance race engines. They will perform flawlessly with Schrick, Cat Cams and BMW Motorsports Cams. They are the correct installed height and seat pressure recommended by BMW Motorsports and Schrick for use with their cams. The specific quality of materials and production process are second to none!
The tolerances of our Achilles Motorsports Valve Spring Kits are tightly engineered for motorsports, we worked hand in hand with Eibach Springs of Germany one of the world's most prestigious and experienced manufactures to produce a set that could pass all of our requirements and expectations. So, when you purchase one of our kits for your BMW rest assured it will be the optimum specification for your application.
Our valve springs are of dual-spring type with frictional damping meaning the inner and outer springs rub together slightly, providing an engineered amount of frictional damping factor. If one of the spring begins to resonate the other damps out the motion before it can cause excessive spring fatigue and possible damage. Also in the event of one spring breaking, the other will keep the valve from dropping and making contact with the piston.
For longevity or endurance type racing we recommend using our steel alloy retainers which can manage the stress for a much longer durations of use.
Titanium retainers should only be selected for race engines. The extreme light weight of the titanium ensure the absolute maximum weight savings and performance but due to the nature of the material, they need to be inspected regularly.
Steel Alloy retainers are an incredible upgrade over the stock retainers. They are recommended for street driven vehicles & those looking for maximum endurance or extended service intervals. Perfect for street or race engines!
